I’m not sure how to explain this properly.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have OCD, my room is a complete mess, I sometimes wear mismatching socks on purpose, my computer files are unorganized to the point where it can take me up to thirty minutes to find something, I have caught myself wearing my underwear backwards on several occasions and simply didn’t care.

But I do have one obsession, I guess. I always wear my bracelet on my right wrist, it makes me feel safe. It has gotten to the point where I literally can’t remove it without feeling naked and defenseless, I begin to feel out of breath, as if I’m about to pass out.

What would this fall under, Is it an obsession or something else? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Should I seek help or just leave it be, because I feel perfectly fine when I’m wearing it.

Having OCD isn’t just about being “neat.” Take another look at yourself, are there any other things that you absolutely have to do, or have to have, or else XYZ?

If not, then it could just be a simple obsession that’s a personality quark, which isn’t anything bad, but just know you have it. :)

OCD attacks what you love. It’s likely that things that don’t really bother you don’t get as stuck in your mind. Learning to agree with what the OCD says is a big step in recovery as well as rationalizing because, if the OCD says something and you “argue”…you have then initiated a conversation that will cause your OCD to try and provide evidence as to why you should believe what it is saying.

On the other OCD blog that I help run, I just started making pictures of OCD problems that people can reblog. Send me examples of problems that OCD causes and I will start making pictures for this blog too. :)

OCD can serve a purpose. Sometimes, it’s used as a distraction by our minds to avoid dealing with certain issues in our lives. In addition, it can also resurface due to unresolved issues we have. What are your thoughts on this?

So, we all complain and express our frustrations with OCD but what are some of the positive aspects of having OCD?

If you constantly argue with your OCD, it’ll never stop. You have to agree with the thoughts, no matter how difficult that may be. You have to think of your OCD has a bully, if you agree with him…you take the power.
